![]() I purchased both of these and they work outstanding. Then use the 'crossover calibrator' to give the fine tune to the exact xover point. Here is the 'how to' using the distortion detector. I have the Alpine version(same type of micro sub, slot ported, super tiny enclosure) of Tony's same sub set up and it rocks in my wifes 2011 Golf TDi. the sub will be near max excursion and potentially damage it if over driven. in Tony's case, since he has a 8'' sub, i would not suggest anything lower than 25hz. Then, set your true Xover point -again with SteveMeade designs meter.finally wire up to sub and your set.Īs far as your 'subsonic filter' put it at the HIGHEST point you dont want your sub to play down past. then when you know what the 'clipping' point is, move on to the AMP clipping.ĭeck clipping preset, reduced slightly, then watch AMP clipping and reduce slightly. ![]() you can use a Oscope or a steve meade designs meter. You should set the gain from the DECK (volume knob) to see where you get clipping. so im sure the*sub*isnt burt just wanted to see what everyone else is alotta power so guess it would be better tk do it by the books right.Īre you running the top amp 'pass through' to the sub amp? is the xover to the sub amp switched to LP? My*sub*is 2ohm dual voice coil.wired to 1 ohm.amp is a memphis mc1.1500 1ohm stable 1500w rms output at the speaker leads should be 38.72.for 1500w rms.so I think ima just turned the lpf all the way up everything else all the way down play a test track and turn up the gain until the meter reads 25volts.then set the filters and play it like that for a week or so.the smell isnt like a burning smells like a rubber factory. You might try low to light moderate power in a sealed box & maybe yours will do the same that mine did, never know. But for some reason it was broken in when I put it back in the ported box. But I did notice more excursion in the sealed box, maybe that helpedbreak*the*sub*in, I'm not totally sure. Using the LPF and Subsonic functions on an AMP can greatly improve audio quality, while also helping to protect speakers from potential damage. When I swapped it back, that sob was pounding compared to when I had it in the ported box new. It got even weaker, but I didn't feel like swapping it back for about a week. So I figured I'd swap it to a sealed box. ![]() Didn't seem to hit as good as the previous punch model that I had bought used. But anyways, the most recent I have & still have, I played it for like a month. I don't if this helps or not, every punch*sub*that I had would get that smell too. After that crank it at total watts!!! And enjoy!!! Every woofer I have owned has had a slight smell during this period ofbreaking it in. The surround and spider are rigid until they are broke in. You will get some smell from the woofer also. Apply about 500 watts for the first week. The spider and the surround need to adjust to movement from being stiff.
